What is this initiative?
WEConnect is proud to introduce Kahaani, our newest program designed to give a voice to marginalized communities. With this program, we aspire to educate the general public on many visible minority cultures, traditions, cuisines, and lifestyles. We aim to shed light on your reality, whether you are a victim of abuse, struggled to build yourself a life in Canada, had to adapt to a completely new culture, or had immense success in your family life and career. We welcome all to participate and share your stories. Our social media will give you the platform to share your journey as a newcomer to Canada. This includes addressing the difficulties in your journey, the moments you are proud of, the differences of life in Canada versus your country of origin, and how you stay connected to your culture. We aim to deconstruct stereotypes prevalent in today’s society that are often directed to the minority groups. WE (women empowered) are educated. WE have a voice. WE can be change-makers. Let us come together to celebrate the diversity woven into the fabric of Canadian society.
To participate, please fill out the form below. The responses to important interview questions will be included in your Kahaani. Once completed, please click submit. Once we have received your form, one of our team members will contact you to schedule a video call if more information is needed. We appreciate your contribution to Kahaani, and your efforts to both inspire other people who may be scared to share their stories and educate the public on your culture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to participate?
Any person, of any age, sex, culture, and descent that has an immigration experience to be shared! Your name and photos do not have to be shared, however, if you would like, they can be a part of your Kahaani.
How will my Kahaani be displayed?
We will be sharing your Kahaani as an article post on this website. You will have your own post with your information and Kahaani. If you are contacted for a video call for further information, with your permission we will include a short video to go alongside your Kahaani. This will be introducing yourself, with a quick summary and gist of what you will talk about in your Kahaani.
How much should I write for each response?
This is up to you, and how much you wish to share for your Kahaani. We suggest you write at least 5 sentences for the responses that require more explanation and detail, but you can write 10-15 sentences if you have more to share. We would love for you to share however much you are comfortable sharing.
Do I have to answer all the questions?
We personally suggest answering all the questions so that we have as much information as possible to tell the story of your life. The more the better! However, if you are uncomfortable answering a question, or multiple questions, you can instead write about some other experience, or write that you do not wish to share at this time.
Is there a deadline to submit my interview form for Kahaani?
There is no deadline! This is an ongoing program that will continue as the stories come in, and you may take as long as you desire to answer the questions. However, the google form can sometimes reload and delete the information you have inputted so we suggest if you decide to take a few days to complete the interview, keep a copy of each response in a saved document.
